Diver, as your role on a dive

Your role on a dive had four options: Instructor, Assistant, Guide and Student. If you were simply diving, you left it empty, and an empty role also meant you never set one. Divebase couldn't tell the two apart, and neither could your filters.

From today there's a fifth option: Diver. It's the first in the Your role dialog, and it works like the others, with a chip on the You card and a pill in the header of the dive that opens your logbook filtered to it.

The option that clears a role now says Not set, because that's what it means: you haven't said. Your existing dives stay as they are. Divebase doesn't mark them as Diver for you, because some of them may be dives you taught.

Buddies don't change. Everyone on your roster already counts as a buddy, so a buddy with no role is still a plain buddy.

On the API

The diver_role field on the API also accepts and returns diver. If your client handles a fixed list of values, add this one. null now means that the role isn't recorded.

The mobile apps learn the new role in their next builds. Until you update, an app shows a Diver dive as having no role, and if you edit that dive there, the edit clears the role.
