Introducing the diver profile

Who's the diver? You are. And until today, Divebase didn't know the first thing about you. That changes now with the diver profile, a new section that's all about the person behind the logbook. You'll find it in the left sidebar, right where it used to sit with a quiet "SOON" tag beside it.

The profile is where you introduce yourself. Tell Divebase your name and date of birth, where you call home, and a little more if you like: a contact email and phone, kept separate from your account login, and your blood group.

You might be wondering why a dive log needs any of this. Two reasons.

First, it doesn't. Every field is optional, and an empty profile is a perfectly valid one. Fill in as much or as little as you want, and leave the rest blank.

Second, and this is the real reason: Divebase is a dive platform, not just an app. With the API now out in the world, other dive software can connect to your logbook and tailor the experience around you. To do that well, those tools sometimes need to know a bit more about the diver: who you are, how to reach you, the details that matter when you show up at a dive center.

Knowing who you are lets Divebase itself feel a little more personal, too. The home page now greets you by name, and your initials stand in for you across the app.
